National art project blooms at the Out-of-Door Academy in Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota 

Celia Rayman, a student at Out-of-Door Academy, meticulously swept off the excess paint from her saturated brush to make her strokes on the mural in front of her precise.

She then proceeded to make the light pink petals of a flower.

It was only one bloom out of 10,000, but it had to be the best imaginable. Every time she goes through the painting in the stairway of Lakewood Ranch’s upper school arts centre, she will know she was a part of something extraordinary.

Tim Gibson’s Ten Thousand Flowers initiative in Pennsylvania is something unique.

Gibson has been touring cities around the country to collaborate with schools and communities to create a mile-long mural if all of the paintings were connected.
